Job Responsibilities:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Regional Director, IT will establish a close relationship between Global IT, the Group and the Divisions that they represent, and to increase the value realized by the business from IT assets, investments, and capabilities. As such, the Regional Director, IT needs to have significant understanding of and knowledge in subject matters pertaining to both IT and the Group and Divisions to identify regional IT needs and envisage business solutions. The Regional Director, IT is expected to work closely within the assigned Region in addressing Group and Division needs.

Salary Range: $160,000 - $190,000 annually

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Drive commonization and standards across the Divisions within the region.
  • Work with the Global Director IT BRM to formulate and execute a relationship management strategy for the assigned region and its Divisions.
  • Build relationships with key business stakeholders within the regional divisions to understand strategic direction, operational needs, trends, constraints, opportunities, etc.
  • Work closely with the regional leaders of the assigned region and its divisions to support them through technology planning, advising on how to exploit existing technologies, and ensuring alignment with the global MML strategy.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of the key IT services, and manage and influence demand for IT services at the regional level, aligning region and division demand for IT projects and services within the IT portfolio, and with MML's global priorities and strategies.
  • Assist with the prioritization of change, particularly using cost / benefit analysis to proactively manage business demand.
  • Maintain a high degree of visibility within the region, and attend regional Group and Division business meetings and appropriate management forums, providing a central point of information for all related IT activities.
  • Identify opportunities for IT to better support the business and promote IT as a trusted delivery partner.
  • Assist the business to form pre-project business requirements that are appropriate and adequate to satisfy both tactical and strategic business needs.
  • Play a proactive role in defining service level needs.
  • Ensure software legal compliance within the region.
  • Oversee the technology program or projects delivered by Global IT in the region to ensure expected outcomes are achieved, including:
    • Reporting on status
    • Acting as a sounding board for ideas and approaches to solving project issues that have program impacts.
    • Identifying and managing cross-project dependencies.
  • Advocate for the region and its divisions, acting quickly to manage urgent issues and championing them until resolution, escalating when required.
  • Act as the voice of the regional Group and its Divisions.


LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY
  • Direct supervision of Regional IT Managers, indirect reporting of divisional IT Managers.


FINANCIAL & LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • Involvement in financial matters is on a level of providing data only and/or making recommendations. May purchase small items with consent.


HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • Ensure all safety and non-safety rules and regulations are followed
  • Ensure adherence to established quality and housekeeping standards
  • Review and adhere to MML's health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, operating procedures, and policies
  • Respond immediately to items brought to his/her attention with respect to hazards, defects, or non-compliance issues
  • Understand and uphold the policies that prohibit workplace violence and harassment
  • In addition to the above, the duties include those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Security, Information Systems, or equivalent proof of baseline knowledge.


EXPERIENCE:
  • Ten years experience in senior leadership roles in industry.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the organization's core business processes and operations, along with the strategic use of technology to grow a business.
  • Demonstrated program management skills, including planning, and controlling processes.
  • Understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts.
  • Ability to understand and communicate/present detailed and advanced business solutions.
  • Ability to communicate up and down the management chain, providing the appropriate level of detail and focus on the right information.
