Full Job Description
Role

The Regional Director of Construction - West will lead and oversee store construction and development execution across the assigned region for Foot Locker North America brands, Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, and Champs. This role is responsible for driving successful delivery of new stores, remodels, relocations, refreshes, and strategic capital projects while ensuring alignment to brand standards, operational goals, budget expectations, and project timelines.

This leader will partner cross-functionally with Real Estate, Design, Preconstruction, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and external consultants to manage the full project lifecycle from feasibility through project turnover.

The Regional Director will also lead and develop a team of Project Managers while driving continuous improvement in construction execution, vendor performance, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting processes.

    • Direct reports: 3 - 5 Regional Senior Project Managers

Responsibilities

Regional Construction Leadership
• Lead construction execution across the assigned region, ensuring alignment with company objectives, brand standards, and operational priorities.
• Oversee delivery of new stores, remodels, relocations, refreshes, and special projects.
• Ensure all projects are completed on time, within approved budget, and in alignment with Cost, Quality, and Schedule (CQS) expectations.
• Provide leadership and escalation support for at-risk projects, driving timely resolution of schedule, cost, or quality issues.

Store Development & Preconstruction Partnership
• Partner closely with Real Estate, Design, and Preconstruction teams during site selection, feasibility review, and lease negotiation phases.
• Provide construction expertise to validate project scope, schedule assumptions, landlord work requirements, and cost expectations.
• Support development strategy and execution planning across assigned brands and markets.

Construction Operations & Vendor Management
• Lead contractor sourcing, bid qualification, bid leveling, and vendor selection processes.
• Direct contract negotiation, execution, and administration activities across the regional portfolio.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, consultants, landlords, and vendors.
• Monitor vendor performance and drive accountability to company standards.

Financial & Schedule Management
• Manage regional construction budgets, forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting processes.
• Ensure adherence to project schedules and critical path milestones.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, process efficiency, and schedule optimization.
• Partner with Finance and leadership teams on capital planning and budget management.

Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers and construction team members.
• Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and retention of top construction talent.
• Foster a collaborative, solution-oriented team culture.

Process Improvement & Reporting
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across construction execution and project delivery processes.
• Develop and maintain construction standards, reporting tools, and operational documentation.
• Provide regular updates and portfolio reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 10-15 years of commercial retail construction and development experience
• Multi-site retail construction experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale project portfolios across multiple markets
• Experience leading and developing Project Managers and cross-functional teams
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, bidding processes, scheduling, budgeting, and lease coordination
• Proven ability to manage projects aligned to Cost, Quality, and Schedule expectations
• Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong strategic thinking and organizational leadership capabilities
• Ability and willingness to travel as required

Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $155,000 - $165,000 plus eligibility for short-term and long-term incentive opportunities aligned to individual and company performance.
