Position Summary The Redhat Linux SA - Senior provides senior-level UNIX/Linux system and server administration support for JSSC Enterprise Services Support under JC32. The position supports Tier II/III operations for UNIX/Linux systems and servers supporting GCCS-J and JPES-related mission environments at the Pentagon and, when required, the COOP location at Site-R. The role performs systems operations, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, monitoring, backup/recovery coordination, configuration management support, and server operations in accordance with JSSC SOPs, change control requirements, and applicable DoD/DISA security standards.
Requirements
Requirements- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience providing expert support, analysis, research, and technical solutions for complex information technology problems and processes. (ENCORE III Requirement)
- Demonstrated expertise in an information technology subject matter area such as systems administration, information systems architecture, systems integration, communications/network systems management, or related technical disciplines. (ENCORE III Requirement)
- Ability to work with minimal direction, exercise independent technical judgment, and develop technical solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity, creativity, and broad technical knowledge. (ENCORE III Requirement)
- Active Top Secret clearance with SIPRNet access eligibility required for PWS Task 6.2.3 support. (PWS Requirement)
- U.S. citizenship required for all personnel performing on or supporting the task order. (PWS Requirement)
- DoD IAT Level II certification required for Tier II/III system administration support. (PWS Requirement - Section 14.9)
- Ability to support 12x5 operations with 24x7 on-call response requirements for JC32 Enterprise Services Support. (PWS Requirement)
- Ability to provide required on-call response within two hours of positive notification. (PWS Requirement)
- Ability to support COOP requirements, including relocation to Site-R within 12 hours of positive notification for real-world contingencies and COOP exercises, when designated as an Emergency Relocation Group member. (PWS Requirement)
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide UNIX/Linux systems operations, administration, and maintenance support for JSSC-supported production, test, and development environments.
- Operate, manage, and maintain Red Hat Linux server environments supporting JSSC Enterprise Services Support mission requirements.
- Perform account management, system resource monitoring, performance tuning, log monitoring, backup/recovery coordination, storage management support, operating system administration, and system troubleshooting.
- Identify, test, upgrade, and install required operating system, COTS, GOTS, security, and IAVA-related patches in accordance with security requirements and approved change control procedures.
- Support server operations and management to maintain maximum availability for JSSC customers and mission users.
- Maintain server operating systems and associated software at versions required by JSSC.
- Engineer, configure, and sustain UNIX/Linux server hardware and software architectures supporting JSSC mission systems.
- Perform non-emergency disruptive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades during non-business hours unless otherwise approved by the Change Advisory Board or Government representative.
- Document, track, update, and resolve incident tickets using the assigned ticketing system in accordance with JSSC SOPs and escalation procedures.
- Support incident, problem, and change management processes aligned with ITIL and JSSC ITSM procedures.
- Maintain technical and systems documentation, including configurations, operating procedures, implementation procedures, maintenance records, test plans, test reports, and operational run-books.
- Maintain daily operational logs documenting significant events affecting system, network, or application service availability.
- Support metrics, trend analysis, and capacity reporting for systems and services.
- Support testing of hardware/software upgrades, security patches, IAVAs, and system changes in virtual or non-production environments prior to implementation.
- Recommend improvements to IT operations support based on industry and ITIL best practices when directed by the Government.
- Coordinate with Government leads, system administrators, database administrators, application teams, security personnel, and external support organizations to resolve technical issues affecting mission systems.
Operational Qualifications - Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux in classified DoD operational environments. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
- Experience supporting DISA, DoD, or similar command-and-control mission systems. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
- Experience with UNIX/Linux shell scripting, automation, and system administration toolsets. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
- Experience applying DISA STIGs, IAVAs, security patches, and vulnerability remediation actions to Linux server environments. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
- Experience with VMware or other server virtualization platforms. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
- Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, performance analysis, and capacity planning tools. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
- Experience with backup and recovery processes, storage administration coordination, and disaster recovery support. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
- Experience supporting ITIL-based incident, problem, change, and configuration management processes. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
- Experience developing and maintaining SOPs, operational run-books, technical documentation, and system configuration records. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
- Current Linux+, Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security, GSEC, GICSP, SSCP, or other certification meeting DoD IAT Level II requirements. (Organizational / Operational Preference)
