Job Description
Job Title: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
Profession: RCIS

Hours per Shift: 10-12 hours
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an interventional cardiology or cardiovascular Cath Lab setting preferred.
License: RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) credential preferred.
Certifications: ARRT (Radiography or CI), BLS, ACLS.
Must-Have: Proficiency in scrubbing, circulating, recording, and hemodynamic monitoring.
Description:
The Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist will assist in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.
Procedures include left and right heart catheterizations, coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions, and peripheral angiography/interventions.
The role involves patient preparation, monitoring, scrubbing, circulating, and post-procedural documentation and care.
During low procedural volume, the specialist will support staff training and orientation as part of program development.
Equipment utilized includes Philips Azurion imaging systems and Xper hemodynamic monitoring.
Clienttion safety measures include table-mounted lead shields, lead gowns, and radiation badges.
The specialist will utilize various technologies such as IVUS, FFR, Coroflow, Impella, and Acist Injector.
Strong knowledge of sterile technique, contrast agents, radiation safety, cardiovascular anatomy, hemodynamic principles, and X-ray techniques is essential.
The ability to teach and mentor staff is required.
Typical weekday shifts are Monday through Friday with variable start times based on procedural schedules.
Late call is required.
The candidate may assist in other departments during downtime if cross-trained.
There is one cath lab and four to five recovery rooms in the department.
The dress code includes hospital-provided scrubs and closed-toe, non-slip shoes.
Lead protection and radiation badges must be worn during procedures.
The onboarding program will include shadowing, hands-on practice, competency checklists, and emergency scenario simulations.
