OverviewWho we're looking forToyota's Logistics Services (TLS) Rail Operations is looking for a passionate and highly motivated
Rail Analyst.
The primary responsibility of this role is to {have a strong team-orientation with the ability to lead projects and perform a wide range of project management, problem solving and analytic activities.
Reporting to the Rail Operations Manager, the person in this role will support the Toyota Logistics Services objective by shipping Toyota and Lexus vehicles, via Rail and Truck, damage-free and on-time, from North American origin plants and ports to destination locations.
What you'll be doing - Responsible for oversight of rail transportation for assigned rail carriers serving US, Canada, and Mexico distributors, to support Toyota and Lexus sales objectives. Activities include jointly establishing annual objectives and determining the type and scope of follow-up required to help ensure objectives are achieved.
- Represent and advocate Toyota's position on rail issues at rail industry group meetings.
- Identify and prioritize service issues. Formulate and implement countermeasures collaboratively with railroad partners, VASCOR (Damage Inspection Vendor), and/or VDCs (Vehicle Distribution Centers) to address chronic service issues.
- Includes on-ground operations interface with rail partners to provide direction and decision support to achieve business objectives. Initiate and lead kaizen projects with railroad partners, VASCOR, 3rd Party Logistics Providers, and/or Vehicle Distribution Centers (VDCs) to improve rail transportation and develop more efficient and effective processes, supporting continuous improvement efforts.
- Support VDCs in identifying and resolving railcar movement problems to minimize service impact to the Regions' and Areas' customers. This includes empty railcar supply monitoring, ETA route monitoring, contingency planning, coordinating special rail movements, periodic reporting, and follow-up on systems/ payment/ routing issues.
- Lead monthly performance reviews with assigned carriers to ensure that systemic rail issues are being addressed and work through contractual obligations including rate escalations, fuel surcharges, accessorial costs, and service commitments.
- Evaluate carriers for Logistics Excellence Award surveys. Coordinate routing changes with TLS departments and associated operations such as loading, offloading, information systems, customs interfaces, etc. to ensure successful transitions and/or new route implementations.
- Lead special projects/initiatives with department/company-wide impact. Prepare and present plans, strategies, and business cases.

- TTMS, Hyperion Query, TPS, Kaizen, TBP, A3 Reporting, Business Case Development, Excel skills (pivot tables and formulas)
- Logistics supply chain experience
