Expected salary range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000 depending on experience.

Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a Rail Activation Coordinator to join our project office in Los Angeles, CA

DESCRIPTION:

As a Rail Activation Coordinator at Tutor Perini Corp., you will have the opportunity to support the rail systems testing and commissioning process for the LACMTA Westside Purple Line Extension Project, Section 2. In this role, you will serve as the primary interface with Metro's Rail Activation Manager and other governing agencies, ensuring Metro remains informed of all issues related to rail testing, acceptance, startup, and activation activities.

• Rail Activation Coordinator is to manage and coordinate staff, vendors, etc. prior to and during TPC Integration testing activities. 
• Aid with the project staff in all matters related to Rail Activation and rail systems testing and commissioning.
• Run weekly Rail Activation Team Meetings and attend other meetings with the project staff and Metro that relate to Rail Activation and rail systems testing and commissioning.
• The Rail Activation Coordinator manages the Rail Activation Team (RAT) and has the direct responsibility for day-to-day management of integrated testing activities.
• Works in TPC field office, and attend job meetings as required, and visit job sites to obtain first-hand knowledge of the Rail Activation work.
• Proactively resolve problem issues and expedite the Rail Activation process.
• Assist Track & Systems Construction Manager with review of internal subcontractor changes related to Rail Activation. 
• Rail Activation includes technical Support for Pre-Revenue Service and final certification of the system by the California Public Utilities Commission.
• The Rail Activation Coordinator is responsible for the management/oversight of the Test Team organization chart; Test Program Plan; schedules for all testing; Ensure that all testing is conducted in a safe manner; Report on progress and provide Metro a monthly summary report; Initiate a Discrepancy Report Database on all testing issues and provide corrective action until each item is resolved; and implement/manage the manual on “Rules and Procedures for Conducting Test Operations” (which includes specific operational rules for training, and General Operating Rules for Conducting Test Operations. 
• Perform related duties and projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent required.
• Five (5) or more years of experience in Rail Activation and rail systems testing and commissioning process for transit industry construction projects.
• Ten (10) or more years of experience in testing and startup of rail transit systems is preferred.
• Must understand fundamentals of rail systems testing and commissioning and have familiarity with large scale mass transit projects.
• Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
• Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities is vital.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills such as tact, diplomacy, influence, etc. are essential.
