Job Title: Radiologic Technologist I

License: Must possess a valid state license
Certifications: Must meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass the examination

- Independent work experience in emergency room and trauma care.
- Experience with portable x-ray and pediatric patients.
Description:
The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
This role performs all essential job functions listed below.
Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
Selects and operates equipment as required for specific procedures.
Restricts radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to prevent exposure of radiation to unaffected parts of the patient.
Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
Follows operational procedures to identify patient films with name and x-ray number, correctly marking films according to the side of the patient taken.
Develops exposed x-ray film by processing methods available.
Completes patient requisitions with initials, date, number, and size of film.
Maintains an orderly x-ray room as directed by department leadership.
Prepares radiopaque contrast media and assists in administering radiopaque mixtures to patients.
Performs administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instruction, film filing, maintenance of records, and reception of patients.
Renders services and support to all patients based on individual needs and abilities for mobility and positioning on x-ray tables.
Must lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies care to meet those needs, including communication with patients, parents, and primary caregivers.
Adheres to established organizational competencies and standards.
