Job Summary
The Radiation Protection Manager (RPM) plays a pivotal leadership role in shaping and executing the Radiation Protection and Industrial Hygiene Programs, ensuring full alignment with the American Centrifuge Operations NRC-approved license. This position champions the ALARA Program, oversees occupational monitoring and radiation dose tracking, drives HP-IH training and procedural excellence, and leads the integration of advanced software systems. As a key safety authority, the RPM is empowered with stop-work authority for any activity that deviates from established radiation protection or industrial hygiene program requirements.
What You Will Do
The Radiation Protection Manager leads and inspires a high-performing HP-IH team, providing strategic direction, technical guidance, and strong operational oversight across supervisors, technicians, and specialists. This role manages essential programmatic responsibilities spanning chemical process safety, health physics, and industrial hygiene, regularly collaborating with senior leadership and regulatory agencies-including the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and state partners-to ensure compliance and deliver accurate reporting.
Working cross-functionally, the RPM partners with other management teams to ensure seamless integration of Radiation Protection, Industrial Hygiene, and licensed processes throughout the organization. The role is actively engaged in forward-looking strategic planning, including exercises that measure radioactive and non-radioactive workplace contaminants. The RPM oversees comprehensive personnel and workplace monitoring programs that assess radiation, physical agents, and chemical hazards, while ensuring all HP and IH instrumentation remains calibrated, compliant, and operational.
This leader directs thorough investigations into radiation exposures, chemical incidents, and industrial hygiene anomalies, using insights from monitoring programs and reporting pathways to strengthen safety performance. Additionally, the RPM helps resolve complex safety challenges and plays an integral part in the site's emergency response and overall safety initiatives.
We'd Love to Hear from Candidates With
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, health physics, industrial hygiene, radiation protection, or another physical science discipline, or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience. They should have at least ten years of progressive experience in radiation protection, health and safety, or industrial hygiene, including a minimum of five years of increasing responsibility in Radiation Protection Management within a nuclear facility.
A Successful Candidate
Preferred candidates will have registration through the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT), the ability to obtain and maintain a "Q" level security clearance, and previous experience working in a uranium processing facility.
Pay
Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $92,915-$154,858. This position is Incentive eligible. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. While the posted range reflects the anticipated hiring range for this position, compensation above the range may be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications and directly relevant experience.
