Radiation Effects Semiconductor Engineer

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and radiation effects, with hands-on experience in planning and executing radiation effects testing on advanced electronic components. This role involves the complete project lifecycle, from test planning and PCB design to data collection, analysis, and reporting. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams in a dynamic research environment.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead the testing and characterization of electronic components in radiation environments, including heavy ion and flash X-ray testing.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans, configure hardware and instrumentation setups, and oversee the data collection process.
  • Design, assemble, and validate custom printed circuit boards (PCBs) and test fixtures for radiation testing using Altium Designer or similar tools.
  • Analyze and interpret post-test data from complex devices such as GPUs and custom processors to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with project leads and other engineers to define technical requirements and ensure test readiness by coordinating power, cabling, and setup.
  • Document project work, analyze results, and deliver regular status updates and technical presentations to internal teams and stakeholders.


Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in a laboratory setting with advanced instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Proven experience with PCB design and layout.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.


Location: KAFB in Albuquerque, NM

Preferred Qualifications & Desired Competencies:
  • Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in applied electromagnetics.
  • An active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Direct experience with radiation effects testing and analysis on semiconductor devices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and scripting using Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, PSpice) and electromagnetic simulation software (e.g., CST Studio Suite).
  • Hands-on skills in soldering, PCB assembly, and cleanroom fabrication processes.
  • Strong communication skills and a history of presenting technical findings at symposiums or conferences

The salary range for this role is:
$91,000 - $138,750
