Senior R&D Engineer

Job Description :

Senior R&D Engineer positions offered by Industrial Connections & Solutions, LLC (An ABB Company) (Mebane, North Carolina). Oversee research and development projects from concept to implementation, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget. Develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance the performance, reliability, and safety of electrical switchgear systems. Provide technical expertise in the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical switchgear, including circuit breakers, contactors, and switches. Utilize 3D CAD software for the design and modeling of switchgear components and assemblies. Mentor and guide junior engineers, in a collaborative and innovative work environment. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of new technologies. Prepare detailed technical reports, research papers, and presentations to communicate findings and progress to stakeholders. Enhance existing products and developing new products that meet critical market demands, adhering to ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, and UL standards.

Minimum Requirements :
• Requires a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field and 8 years of experience working in research and development (R&D) within the electrical power equipment industry.
• Must have 8 years of experience in each of the following:
  • Performing electrical equipment design in at least one of the following products: switchgears, motor controllers, power protection, power inverters, transformers, or meters
  • Utilizing simulation software
  • Applying related ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, UL, or IEC standards
  • Working with electrical power systems, including circuit breakers, contactors, and switches
  • Designing and modeling using 3D CAD software
  • Performing project management, including leading R&D projects using a stage-gate process
• Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
