Responsibilities:
Position will lead a group of technicians in the primary goal of turnaround service tasks ahead of the normally traveling race team for cars, parts and subassemblies used in rotation.
Role will include participation of track team testing days as the Chief Mechanic including straight line and wind tunnel test. Also support of on road race team turnarounds is possible.
Work targets and overview will be established with Assembly Manager and Crew Chief .
Lead daily planning and communication for shop technicians within the development group that meet defined targets and deadlines.
Ensure all parts are built to the same specification. Components are safely joined, bolted or otherwise assembled following process outlined.
Assembly of mockup and development parts will be required with written and verbal feedback.
Ensure technicians are following engineering specifications and the final product meets Indy Car and Team Penske requirements.
Understanding of Indy Car rules, technical bulletins and Mechabook.
Maintain accurate records of service, mileage and damage information. With communication to assembly manager, crew chief and build leaders. Work with group leaders to maintain the defined inventory stock levels.
Monitor the work being performed within the work area to assure that all employees are working towards maintaining the production schedule and meeting quality requirements.
Give consistent feedback and direction to employees who do not meet expectations.
