Mangrove is looking for a highly skilled individual to play a pivotal role in the development and commercialization of its innovative technology. As an R&D Engineer (Failure Analysis Engineer/Specialist), you will be part of the Technology Development Department-Failure Analysis team, focusing on the design and development of failure analysis systems, testing, characterization, and scaling of key components of Mangrove's technology. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of anion exchange membrane (AEM) evaluation, as well as a strong foundation in electrochemical principles, devices, and processes. The role requires a diverse, well-rounded technical and entrepreneurial skill set. Required Education, Skills and Experience
- BSc or MSc in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science/engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields.
- 3+ years industrial experience in anion exchange membranes evaluations and failure analysis.
- Hands on experience in the anion exchange membranes (AEMs) testing, analysis, and electrochemical characterizations.
- Utilize statistical design of experiments to optimize resource use and enhance data quality. Analyze results through thorough and rigorous statistical methods.
- Experience in the materials characterization techniques (e.g., XRD, SEM, EDX, AFM, FTIR, ...).
- Experienced on identifying anion exchange membranes (AEMs) failure mechanisms in electrochemical processes. Experience dealing with developing or conducting tests using accelerated degradation protocols.
- Experience in impedance spectroscopy, potentiostatic and galvanostatic testing and durability testing of electrochemical components.
- Experience in electrolyzer/fuel cell testing and optimization toward performance and durability improvement
- Experience working in R&D and product development environments.
- Excellent critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving and communications skills.
- Ability to interact with a wide range of scientists and engineers.
Salary range for this position will be $80 - $100k depending on experience and skills.
