Role: Quality Test Engineer
Location: Pontiac, IL
Position Summary The Quality Test Engineer will support Internal Manufacturing Quality within Fuel Systems, with a primary focus on machining processes. This role is responsible for driving quality improvements through root cause analysis, corrective actions, process optimization, and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manufacturing quality, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Skills & Experience - 5+ years of experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies
- 5+ years of experience in process improvement and manufacturing optimization
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quality data and identify improvement opportunities
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing engineering, operations, and production personnel
Preferred Skills & Experience - Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Knowledge of risk management principles and quality standards
- Experience with conflict resolution, leadership, and influencing teams toward quality improvements
Education Requirements Required: - Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
Preferred: - Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience and applicable internship experience

Key Responsibilities - Support Internal Manufacturing Quality initiatives within Fuel Systems, focusing on machining operations
- Lead and support investigations into quality issues, including scrap, rework, and customer complaints
- Perform root cause analysis and develop/implement corrective and preventative actions using quality tools such as 8D, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA
- Monitor manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement through data analysis and risk assessment
- Partner with manufacturing engineers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to improve process capability and reduce variation
- Analyze quality metrics, including defect rates, process capability, SPC data, First Pass Yield, and internal/external PPM performance
- Prepare quality reports and communicate findings and recommendations to management and cross-functional teams
- Train and support operators on quality standards, inspection methods, and process requirements
- Provide quality expertise and guidance to manufacturing teams to improve overall product quality and efficiency
