Full Job Description

Location/Division Specific Information 

** On-site at our Prince George, VA facility. ** 

This role is to support a new factory in Prince George, VA (onsite) startup manufacturing large form-factor equipment.  The product will be large (shipping container size), heavy (50+ tons), and complex.  This position will be part of the core factory startup and onboarding team responsible for building the operations and manufacturing staff, fitting out the building, and creating the process flow/work instructions/etc. from the ground up. Skills to include panel and point to point wire assembly, Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, and High-Power Electronic assemblies.

You will lead quality inspection and audit activities that ensure products meet customer requirements, industry standards, and regulatory expectations. Through strong leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on continuous improvement, you will help develop a world-class quality culture while supporting the successful launch of a new manufacturing operation. 

 

What will you do? 

  • Lead and develop Quality Inspectors, Quality Technicians, Packout, and Final Inspection personnel to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and customer satisfaction goals. 

  • Supervise daily inspection and audit activities to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering requirements, and quality standards. 

  • Establish staffing plans, training programs, qualification requirements, and work schedules to support operational needs. 

  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members through performance management, feedback, training, and career development activities. 

  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and drive corrective actions to improve performance and reduce defects. 

  • Lead root cause analysis, containment, corrective action, and problem-solving efforts for quality issues, customer concerns, and process failures. 

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality Engineering teams to resolve quality-related issues and improve process performance. 

  • Manage inspection throughput and quality resources to support production schedules and customer delivery requirements. 

  • Perform process audits and oversee Final Inspection activities to ensure products meet customer requirements and quality standards prior to shipment. 

  • Ensure effective control of nonconforming material, including segregation, containment, disposition support, and corrective action follow-up. 

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, operational excellence, and defect reduction. 

  • Assist with startup activities including process development, workforce onboarding, work instructions, quality controls, inspection processes, and training programs. 

  • Promote compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. 

 

How will you get here? 

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Business, or a related field preferred. 

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 

 

Experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Inspection, or Operations within a manufacturing environment. 

  • Previous experience leading or supervising employees is required. 

  • Experience supporting electronics assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, electrical systems, or power distribution equipment is strongly preferred. 

  • Experience in a startup manufacturing environment is a plus. 

  • Experience working with large form-factor products, industrial equipment, switchgear, power systems, heavy manufacturing, or complex assemblies is highly preferred. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams. 

  • Strong understanding of quality inspection methods, auditing techniques, and quality management systems. 

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications

  • Strong knowledge of electronics assembly processes, electrical assemblies, and manufacturing quality requirements. 

  • Experience leading root cause analysis, corrective action activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making. 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Quality, manufacturing, inspection, auditing, or industry-related certifications. 

  • Experience with medium-voltage, low-voltage, high-power electronics, panel assembly, or point-to-point wiring. 

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 8D, Fishbone Analysis, 5 Why, CAPA, or similar problem-solving methodologies. 

  • Experience supporting customer audits, process audits, and product validation activities. 

  • Demonstrated success building teams and quality processes in a new or expanding manufacturing operation. 

The pay range for this role is $77,500 - $139,500. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
