Full Job Description
This position is National Remote. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

The Quality Manager designs and implements quality processes and standards for the Center of Excellence Quality team using validated methods and best clinical practices. This leader is responsible for providing clinical and administrative recommendations relative to quality assessment and improvement to ensure services meet customer expectations. This leader must be a change agent that will foster a quality-driven culture, promote innovative practices that ensure quality and success, and integrate quality practices and accountability into all activities.

This position is full-time, Monday through Friday. Employees are required to work during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm CST.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads and influences leaders and stakeholders, including those without direct reporting relationships, to align on quality objectives, remove barriers, drive engagement, and sustain commitment to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates accountability for advancing quality goals by prioritizing initiatives, managing competing demands, and delivering measurable results.
  • Analyzes and interprets data or information (e.g., clinical, administrative, quality) to ensure standards are met, compliance maintained.
  • Provides the highest level of internal and external customer service.
  • Works cross-functionally within Optum Serve Health Services Operations teams, making recommendations and clarifying information to assist in closing identified gaps.
  • Evaluates current processes, compares relevant standards or specifications and identifies compliance opportunities applying Six Sigma methodology and best practices in business acumen to achieve quality standardization.
  • Develops understanding of customer requirements and expectations and anticipates needs to determine appropriate course of action.
  • Analyzes data and report information to identify the need for change, minimize risk, and ensure effectiveness of quality improvement.
  • Forecasts requirements necessary to improve effective quality assessment and improvement program functions while weighing financial impacts.
  • Identifies, prioritizes, and proactively communicates potential barriers or risks to key stakeholders.
  • Validates quality processes by establishing quality attributes and expectations; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Advises and assists Center of Excellence, Program and Operations leaders in policy review, formulation, communication and evaluation in setting of organizational priorities related to Total Quality Management.
  • Identifies application opportunities for the technical/statistical tools of quality/process improvement.
  • Maintains and enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Provides leadership to staff that offers job satisfaction, performance recognition, and stimulates innovative thinking.
  • Leads the oversight of selection, hiring, training, development and performance management for Quality team.
  • Aligns the team to UHG's Core Values: Integrity, Compassion, Relationships, Innovation, Inclusion and Performance.
  • Leverages clinical expertise to inform decision-making and program development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent years of experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams
  • Experience in a Clinical/Quality setting
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday through Friday. Employees are required to work during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm CST.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean Leader and Six Sigma training
  • Knowledge of analyzing and reporting statistical data
  • Knowledge and understanding of military protocols


Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
