Full Job Description
Job Summary:

Manage and champion the Quality Management System (QMS) and continual improvement of product quality at Streetsboro, Ohio plant. He/she oversees the plant Quality Control department. Plan, direct and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality specifications and metrics/KPIs. Develop and maintain quality checks and systems to improve processing raw materials and components into quality finished goods for the retailer and consumer marketplace regardless of product category.

Job Duties:

Quality and Continuous Improvement
  • Promote & drive opportunities for Quality improvement throughout organization by identifying root cause. Issue corrective/preventative actions, create, track and report on various key quality metrics/KPIs. Represent Quality in various product related meetings. Drive standardization and cost reductions. Measure through internal and external auditing.


Supervision and Training
  • Develop and mentor plant QC personnel and inspectors to become the future leaders within the Quality organization as part of succession planning. Provide guidance and coaching to utilize sound proven Quality principles to drive continuous improvement. Develop quality training, programs and regular cadence to utilize throughout the plant and organization. Perform annual performance reviews. Discipline and write up employees as necessary to correct poor performance.


Resource
  • Function as a critical catalyst resource for continuous improvement. Recommend process improvement initiatives, aid manufacturing and various departments including retailers, suppliers/subcontractors with technical assistance, quality engineering and documentation.


Management
  • Member of the plant management team which helps define, improve, achieve quality metrics and drive improvement to meet organizational goals and objectives to achieve world class operations. Work with Plant Managers to ensure consistency, standardization and reduced costs. Update management on current quality threats and opportunities with data analysis.


Systems
  • Create and maintain a systems approach to quality management based upon best practices and standards such as ISO 9001. Help manage and coordinate and utilize software databases such as SharePoint, Oracle and Power BI. Coordinate and maintain the hold tag system, incoming receiving and on-line inspection processes and internal audits. Participate and help coordinate various annual retailer third-party audits at Step2 facilities or our subcontractors. Help schedule and maintain internal calibration process and records.


Metrics, Reporting & Budgeting
  • Maintain and report quality metrics for the Streetsboro plant. Track Cost of Quality and other cost improvement projects. Work with supply chain personnel on supplier rating scorecard. Manage the plant annual Quality department budget - labor, tools and resources.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director of Quality.

Work Environment:

This position will be on the floor frequently in the manufacturing environment as well as perform job duties in an office environment where using a computer, software applications, telephone, printer, etc. are essential.
