Job Summary:The Quality Manager will lead the organization's quality management system, ensuring products consistently meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal specifications. This role oversees quality assurance, quality control, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with applicable regulations, while driving a culture of quality across manufacturing, laboratory, and business functions. The Quality Manager collaborates closely with operations, technical, supply chain, and commercial teams to improve product quality, reduce risk, and support the company's strategic and operational objectives.
Duties/Responsibilities:Quality Management System (QMS)
- Own the Quality Management System, ensuring SOPs, work instructions, forms, and policies remain current and support business objectives.
- Ensure compliance and audit readiness to ISO 9001 and other relevant industry certifications and standards.
- Drive corrective and preventative actions using lean / six-sigma methodologies to ensure solutions are efficiently and sustainably implemented.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Oversee laboratory testing and product inspections, establishing and monitoring performance KPI's to maintain department.
- Develop, review, and approve specifications, test methods, certificates of analysis, and quality documentation.
- Utilize statistical process controls to monitor and improve manufacturing and first pass yield.
Leadership & Team Development
- Hire, train, & develop lab personnel to meet immediate business needs while ensuring long-term continuity through succession planning.
- Establish and oversee department KPIs, employee goals, and performance metrics.
- Oversee department spending and adhere to budget.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Continuous Improvement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer and supplier quality issues.
- Track and investigate product quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformances.
- Lead projects to improve department efficiencies through automation of workflows within SAP and adoption of new IT technologies, AI, etc.
Education/Relevant Industry ExperienceMinimum:- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management, preferably within a chemical manufacturing or related environment.
- Hands on experience in use and method development for relevant analytical methods, such as HPLC, TGA, FTIR, XRF, DSC, Karl Fischer, etc.
- Previous leadership experience managing quality teams in a manufacturing setting.
Preferred:- Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong understanding of statistical process control and manufacturing operations.
