Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

We are seeking a strong and experienced Quality Leader to lead a team responsible for sustaining and continuously improving the overall Quality Management System at our Trivium facility. In this role, you will ensure our customers' Critical to Quality requirements are consistently met by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Process Engineering, Technology, and Product Line Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive leadership in problem solving, issue resolution, and follow-through on quality-related issues impacting manufacturing
  • Coach, mentor, and oversee team members in their daily responsibilities and longer-term objectives
  • Identify development opportunities for team members and support execution of their growth plans
  • Partner with Technology and Engineering on product enhancements, new product designs, and product transfers to ensure customer specifications and expectations can be met
  • Lead the team in understanding both internal and external customer needs, ensuring expectations are consistently achieved through monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and continuously improving plant quality systems
  • Execute and implement the Product Quality Architecture strategy
  • Engage with various levels of leadership regarding quality performance, quality-related issues, and structured problem solving
  • Lead efforts to reduce customer returns and notifications by driving rigorous corrective action methodologies
  • Ensure the plant maintains a robust Quality Management System aligned with company standards and TL9000 requirements
  • Oversee key departmental quality functions such as:
    • Incoming inspection of raw materials
    • Calibration systems
    • Optical test equipment support


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or other relevant technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, or military experience in a technical leadership role
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering results
  • Broad experience across manufacturing and engineering functions
  • Experience leading projects from scope definition through implementation
  • Experience coaching and developing junior engineers and technicians


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment in at least two different roles
  • Knowledge of ISO or TL quality system fundamentals and certification processes, including internal and external audits
  • Experience with data acquisition, consolidation, and analysis from multiple sources
  • Familiarity with product specifications and measurement systems
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Background in project management, performance excellence, or MEE is a plus

The range for this position is $112,328.00 - $154,451.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
