Full Job Description
The North America Propulsions System Transmission, Drive line and Gear reducers organization (PTDR) is currently seeking a Quality & Warranty Acceleration Engineer (WAT Engineer) to join the PTDR team at the Quality Engineering Center (QEC) in Auburn Hills, MI. WAT Engineer is responsible for investigating and working on PTDR quality issues as they come through the warranty, or the plants, or supplier quality spills, etc. He/ she will be the issue manager and lead solver for a certain issues and will be responsible, along with other team members involved, for triaging new issues, root cause analysis, and quickly and effectively identifying the immediate and the permanent corrective actions. He/ she will also be responsible to create a Lessons learned and to complete a read across with other program/ applications to ensure the same issues don't repeat again in the future for the same root cause.

The incumbent will report to a team lead (WAT manager, or Engineering Quality Chief Engineer) and should have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for automotive and powertrain development, and quality systems and procedures.

Responsibilities include:
  • Accelerate the quality/ warranty issues resolution through deep collaboration between Quality, Engineering and other functions inside and outside Stellantis.
  • Support the quality and field action personnel in warranty claim analysis, claim triage, and early detection
  • Support GIM/ S²IRIUS (Stellantis Global Issue Management System) issues creation and handover with correct team members assignments.
  • Responsible to create 1-pager per approved template, and ensure proper documentations are included and attached to every GIM/ S²IRIUS.
  • GIMs/ S²IRIUS root cause analysis/ identification
  • Request access to company owned vehicles as they come to Stellantis Quality Engineering Center (QEC) for repair, or through employees Incident disposition system (IDS) entrees for issues analysis.
  • Monitor GIMs/ S²IRIUS resolution progress within the Time to Fix metrics (TTF).
  • Track GIMs/ S²IRIUS resolutions in the vehicle assembly plant and Aftersales.
  • Assess the robustness of the issues (ICA & PCA) in the Stellantis vehicle/ Supplier plants and feasibility of the service solution, physically reviewing the product/process changes, internal metrics and control plan update.
  • Clean point effectiveness monitoring (painter chart)
  • Initiate and ensure "service actions" are completed for every GIM/ S²IRIUS.
  • Lessons learned for standards update to protect future launches and support read across
  • Support KPI reviews and forecast updates.
  • Support field early warranty (FEW) reviews (opening & closing markets) for programs they are responsible for
  • Support "short loop" quality reviews with plant(s)
  • Support Control Tower Steering Committee and reviews as needed for GIMs escalations


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's of science degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in Product Engineering/ automotive Transmission and/ or driveline design, releasing, development, validation, calibration, manufacturing, etc
  • Experienced in Quality/ Warranty issues resolution techniques/ approaches.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication/presentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, specifically MS Excel and Project
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and understanding full details on drawings


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in engineering
  • Familiar w/ Quality-related metrics
  • Design for Six Sigma DFSS - BB certification.
  • Shainin Red X certification
