Position Description:

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineering Specialist to join our fast-paced engineering team. This role suits a hands-on quality expert who approaches testing with both a BSA and developer mindset, driving a "QA-first" culture across the SDLC.

You will bring strong expertise in backend integrations, APIs, and validating complex data flows across Kafka and MQ, while leveraging AI tools to accelerate delivery and ensure enterprise-grade quality.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Role & Responsibilities
• Automation-First Strategy: Design and implement scalable automation frameworks, with API Testing and UI Validation
• Asynchronous Messaging Validation: Design and execute test suites for event-driven architectures, specifically focusing on Kafka streams and MQ (Message Queue) patterns.
• Development & BSA Hybrid Oversight: Partner with BSAs to refine requirements and with Developers to review code, ensuring "Testability" is baked into the design phase.
• AI-Powered Productivity: Utilize GitHub Co-pilot and advanced Prompt Engineering to generate test cases, scripts, and documentation, significantly reducing manual overhead.
• Automation Framework Engineering: Build and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Java, focusing on a 70/30 split favoring API and Integration testing over UI validation.
• CI/CD Integration: Embed automated integration tests into GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid feedback loops and shift-left testing.
• Technical Mentorship: Provide guidance to junior tester on Core Java concepts, efficient debugging, and the nuances of validating distributed systems.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Required Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: Minimum 8-10 years in Quality Engineering, with at least 5 years focused on backend and integration testing in an enterprise environment.
• Core Technical Skills:
o Advanced API Testing: Expert-level proficiency with REST/SOAP APIs and tools like Postman or REST Assured.
o Messaging Platforms: Hands-on experience testing Kafka producers/consumers and MQ systems.
o Java Mastery: Strong understanding of Core Java (OOPs, Collections, Exception Handling, Multithreading) for automation development.
o AI Tools: Proven experience using GitHub Co-pilot and Prompt Engineering to optimize QE workflows.
• Methodology: Strong experience in Agile/SAFe environments, with the ability to manage defect lifecycles and triage complex integration issues.

Nice to Have
• Experience with Python or Robot Framework as secondary automation languages.
• Prior experience in the Financial Services or Banking sector.
• Certifications such as ISTQB or Cloud Practitioner (AWS/Azure)

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000 - $115,000. This role is a existing vacancy.
