Job description

Summary:
Responsible for ensuring that the Manufacturing Quality System is effectively established, deployed, maintained, and continually improved. Works closely with Operations Management to drive and maintain world-class manufacturing operations and quality outcomes. Manages, directs, trains, mentors, develops, coaches and counsels' staff to ensure desired results are achieved in daily operations and meeting mid to long-term company goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervises Quality Engineers assigned to manufacturing departments work activities to provide timely and efficient flow of services and projects.
• Reports progress and status of projects on a timely basis with emphasis on reporting results to the Site Quality Manager and Operation Manager.
• Ensure participation and reporting to QRQC teams.
• Continuous Improvement: Support the various facets of product and process improvements. Particularly as it relates to active production lines.
• Drive and maintain world-class manufacturing practices.
• Principal contributor to development and monitoring of quality metrics inclusive of non-quality costs and DPPM, which include efforts in improvements of CONQ.
• Manage, mentor and develop team of Quality Engineers to ensure department and business objectives are met.
• Responsible for ensuring the team is prepared for customer and regulatory audits.
• Ensuring Quality Engineer participation in the site flash audit program.
• Responsible for Material Review Board related to production activities.
• Responsible for the oversight of customer complaint resolution on behalf of Quality.
• Ensures commitment to a safe working environment and the HSE standards and processes established by corporate
• Key driver of product and process improvements in collaboration with • Manufacturing and Design Engineering teams.

Quality Engineering Team related activities this role has oversight of:
• Participate in the design control process as it relates to the transfer of new designs to manufacturing, and the maintenance of existing designs.
• Maintains a leading-edge understanding of the quality processes required in manufacturing of aerospace articles in order to find new and novel opportunities to improve quality and reduce cost.
• Evaluates and develops improved quality techniques for the control of product activities. Develops inspection techniques as required.
• Timely dispositions Material Review Board and Corrective Action issues (metrics to be defined).
• In collaboration with operations and engineering, proactively manage production operations, and Quick Response Quality Control execution. In addition, ensure adherence to quality and production procedures throughout the process of manufacturing.

Continued related activities:
Along with team, serve as subject matter experts to resolve in-process failures, line stoppages and defects noted throughout the process manufacturing and repair activities.
Identify and assess actual and potential problem areas in production. Team will lead efforts to formulate and execute recovery plans to achieve compliance and meet customer delivery needs.

Qualifications

Education Required:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or applicable science from an accredited institution.
• 5 years manufacturing experience in the field of Quality.
• At least 4 years of experience in the aerospace sector, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to travel for domestic and overseas business (50% or more)
Knowledge/Skills Required:
• Background in 14CFR Part 21 and Part 145 (preferred)
• Knowledge of PFMEA
• Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance, Machine Runoff, Risk analysis, root causation, 8D, SPC etc.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical procedures, purchase specifications, applicable FAA regulations and contractual terms and conditions
• Aerospace Quality Standards AS9100 rev D / AS9102, NADCAP etc.
• Trained/ Qualified Auditor to AS9100 (preferred)
• A strong technical background gained in manufacturing (ideally aerospace or automotive) is essential
• Leadership - Ability to conceive, produce and deliver significant presentations to external customers
• Proficient in use of MS Office software, Excel, Word & PowerPoint

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Setting Quality Engineer goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision
• Organizing workflow and ensuring that the Quality Engineer understand their duties or delegated tasks
• Monitoring Quality Engineer productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching
• Additional tasks that may be assigned by the Site Quality Manager

Physical Demands:
• May require long periods of sitting.
• May require lifting of 20 lbs. or more.

Work Environment:
Typical office/plant environment requiring the use of typical office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, etc.) Computer keyboarding, computer monitor and mouse use including reaching forward, grasping, finger and wrist manipulation and neck bending and turning; near vision is necessary for computer monitor use.
