Full Job Description
Tesla Gigafactory Nevada is looking for an experienced Quality Leader for Battery Cells and Energy Storage business. In this role you will build a world class quality team and process to enable Tesla to deliver safe and reliable stationary energy storage solutions to drive the mission to accelerate the world's transition towards sustainable energy. This is a dynamic position where you work across several engineering groups, to proactively develop products and processes to be built right first time and continuously improve them to meet Customer expectations and profitability goals.

You will provide hands-on support, leadership, direction to their direct reports. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant achievements, tremendous drive, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves.

Responsibilities
  • Lead quality engineers and managers to support production lines in Gigafactory Nevada site, while building a network across all Tesla factories to leverage good practices and continuous improvement
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives across suppliers, design, manufacturing, service and field quality
  • Own Product Quality during its entire lifecycle, by implementing and sustaining Advanced Product
  • Quality Planning practices, driving continuous improvement in field quality, production yield and supply chain of fabricated and purchased components
  • Establish and meet clear quality metrics and objectives for the site and Energy business
  • Drive professional problem solving to root cause and correct failures in production and the field
  • Support a 24x7 global business with the needed sense of urgency to protect Tesla customers and business, while enabling employee engagement, career growth, work-life balance, commitment, and a fun place to work
  • Develop and motivate a high performing team of exceptional managers, engineers, supervisors and technicians to be proud to take place in Tesla's mission to transition the world towards sustainable energy
  • Sustain compliancy and certification for quality management and required product standards. (ISO9001, NRTL, TUV, Intertek, UL, customer audits)
  • Lead a quality assurance team of technicians and supervisors to support production 24x7, implementing consistent standard work and training, to ensure that all products meet specifications and quality issues are prevented or addressed immediately. Sustain a quality labs operation for incoming and in-process material, managing CAPEX, purchasing, construction


Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Six Sigma, CQE-ASQ or equivalent certifications are preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in product development, quality system or program quality
  • 5+ years of experience of Quality leadership in manufacturing and/or designing new products for high volume operations. Experience with battery cells and modules preferred
  • Proven track record to build and lead a strong team in a 24x7 manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Analysis, APQP and SixSigma tools and methodologies
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines, while nurturing a positive attitude and collaboration across teams
  • Ability to resolve quality issues with urgency in a 24x7 production environment, which requires flexibility when the need arises. Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in tough circumstances
  • Dependable leader and professional problem solver that seek solutions rather than only pointing problems
  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills. Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills
