Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of robust QC methodologies and test plans.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and validate product processes, including FAIs and PPAP submissions.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Create and maintain essential quality documentation, including SOPs and quality reports.
  • Develop and maintain risk management documentation such as FMEA and Turtle Diagrams.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to uphold quality standards across product lifecycles.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including occasional travel to supplier locations.

Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer will boost quality assurance throughout RTC's manufacturing lifecycle. This role is accountable for supporting the development and implementation of robust quality standards and processes. Key responsibilities include conducting thorough inspections, diagnosing root causes of non-conformance, and collaborating with diverse teams to execute corrective and preventive actions. The Quality Engineer is instrumental in driving continuous improvement to ensure exceptional product quality.

Responsibilities:
  • Quality Control (QC) & Design Excellence
    • Strategic Quality Development: Support the development and implementation of robust QC methodologies, comprehensive test plans, and rigorous Design Verification & Validation (V&V) strategies to ensure unwavering adherence to quality standards and guidelines.
    • Product & Process Validation: Execute thorough inspections and testing of products and manufacturing processes, meticulously identifying defects and verifying conformance to specifications, including First Article Inspections (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.
  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
    • Root Cause Analysis & Prevention: Promote in-depth root cause analysis investigations for nonconforming products and processes, meticulously identifying occurrence and escapement causes, and developing comprehensive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.
    • Documentation & Reporting: Create, maintain and control essential quality documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), associated records, quality metrics, and comprehensive reports.
    • Risk Management: Develop, control, and maintain critical risk-related documentation, including Turtle Diagrams, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other relevant risk assessment tools.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across production, engineering, and support functions to embed and uphold quality standards throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.
    • Undertake occasional domestic and international travel to supplier locations.
    • Dedicate at least one day per week at the manufacturing plants.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field preferred; can be replaced with an ASQ Certification or at least 3 years of direct QE experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a quality role within a manufacturing or similar environment is encouraged.
  • Understanding of engineering principles, including the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications along with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Hands-on experience with inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, vision systems, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration abilities and strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Must have exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Preference to experience applying statistical process control (SPC) methods and performing root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Experience with advanced quality planning (APQP) and production part approval process (PPAP) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Metal fabrication and injection molding is a definite plus.
  • Must be 18 years or older

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is budgeted for $71,555-$110,193, with eligibility for an annual bonus. The actual base salary depends on various factors and could be above or below the range depending on the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific skills, level of education, business needs, and market demand. The full salary range for this role reflects this position's competitive labor market value and provides an opportunity to progress as associates grow and develop within the role. Bonuses are paid based on RTC's financial results. Any payouts awarded in the first year of employment are pro-rated based on the start date. Program rules are subject to change at management's discretion.
