Job Description

Location Profile:

Located in South Gate, Dickson Testing Company, Inc. is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services and heat treat capability.

Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of our operational processes and outputs. The Quality Engineer's responsibilities include, inspecting materials, equipment, processes, developing quality control systems, and determining corrective actions. This position is a key liaison with internal staff, suppliers, and customers on Quality related matters. A successful Quality Engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and certifications consistently meet established quality standards. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Comply with PCC Code of Conduct Requirements and all PCC Cardinal Rules (e.g., Quality and Safety).
  • Coordinate and manage Front End Corrective Actions (daily failures, replacements, NCR / CARs).
  • Quality Alerts, Create / Distribute.
  • Create Replacement Metrics, Coordinate Replacement meeting, Drive Corrective Actions until resolution.
  • Manage Stamp control process; ensure that Stamp Log is kept up to date (stamps, signatures, initials); new hires and exiting employees.
  • Supplier: Manage SCARs for nonconforming supplier products and services.
  • Manage the Training Matrix; track all new employees and their training needs; update when employees leave the company.
  • Perform Failure Quality Analysis (FQA) on nonconforming laboratory tests.
  • Develop and implement quality control systems, procedures, processes
  • Monitor and analyze quality performance.
  • Inspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and certifications to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Collaborate with operations managers to develop and implement controls and improvements.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot process issues.
  • Monitor quality control activities and processes at suppliers. Review and analyze corrective action and non-conformance data to eliminate non-conformances.
  • Review or create order specific Inspection & Control (Cut Up) Plans and other Quality documentation.
  • Address quality inquiries and concerns from our customer and their representatives
  • Participate with customer audits, work collaboratively with customers to identify quality gaps, assure corrective action resolution, and oversee continual improvement activities to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Perform and lead internal audit activity to identify process enhancements and ensure compliance with QMS.
  • Participate on all 6S Programs
  • Assist with training production staff in the implementation of QMS and inspection procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Material Sciences, metallurgical related field is required.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer, or a similar role is required.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and quality systems; aerospace preferred
  • ASQ certification preferred.
  • Experience with ISO 17025 / NADCAP is highly preferred.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $72300 to $115000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
