Description

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer (QE) is a hands-on quality professional who partners closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure product and process quality across fabrication, assembly, powder coating, and operations. This role focuses on daily shop-floor engagement, rapid problem solving, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement.

Essential Responsibilities:

Shop Floor Quality Support & Troubleshooting
  • Support production teams with real-time quality troubleshooting across the manufacturing and support processes.
  • Validate containment actions to ensure nonconforming material is properly identified and controlled.
  • Conduct Gemba walks to verify error-proofing, process controls, and standard work adherence.
  • Create quality alerts for critical issues.
  • Collect and log nonconforming material in ERP system, lead Material Review Board

Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Review and summarize FPY, scrap, rework, and issue logs.
  • Analyze scrap and COPQ using Pareto methods.
  • Update COPQ data and create charts, including MRB metrics.
  • Report monthly quality trends.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead structured problem-solving and corrective action events.
  • Review and maintain control plans and standard work.
  • Update PFMEAs.
  • Run process capability studies.

Audits, MRB & Training Support
  • Conduct process audits.
  • Lead MRB meetings and follow up on dispositions.
  • Validate operator training effectiveness.
  • Support onboarding and quality training.

Quality Systems & Documentation
  • Support calibration of tools.
  • Update and maintain quality documentation.


Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in quality engineering, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly, powder coating).
  • Certifications such as CQE, CQA, Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and quality management software preferred.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in quality tools: A3, 8D, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA.
  • Experience with ISO 9001
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Statistical data analysis and problem-solving skills.

Soft Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
