Full Job Description
Directs and manages the Quality Control lab team, executing the quality assurance system processes and programs to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction and positively impact financial performance. Responsible for the testing of materials and products to ensure that overall quality control of processes, raw materials, and finished products are aligned with company specifications, regulatory and industry standards while achieving the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manages and directs the Quality Control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
  2. Train employees on quality systems, tools, and techniques to drive product improvement.
  3. Ensure compliance with and execution of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  4. Perform internal audits and facilitate external audits in coordination with the Quality Assurance Manager
  5. Coordinate the corrective and preventive action portions of the customer complaints to ensure timely and complete responses to internal and external customers as well as monitor success of corrective actions.
  6. Support production through data analysis and monitoring of KPI's.
  7. Coordinate responses to customer audits, surveys, and questionnaires in conjunction with the Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement Leader.
  8. Leads and/or facilitates cross-functional activities to resolve customer complaints.
  9. Identifies trends and initiates quality alerts, holds, and product recalls when appropriate.
  10. Provide technical expertise for all chemical and chemical process related material testing, qualifications, and customer certifications (CoAs)
  11. Lead quality investigations and root cause analyses for quality related issues at the site, including developing, proposing, and monitoring corrective actions.
  12. Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
  13. With Plant Manager support, responsible for ensuring the understanding of quality goals and procedures for all levels and providing training to all personnel regarding quality policies and practices
  14. Responsible for storage and updates of documentation of methods, formulas, and testing results ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  15. Continually reviews programs and systems to develop and drive improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
  16. Drive process and product improvement and results by proactively managing repeated batch failures, reworks, internal and external corrective actions.
  17. Partner with Production and New Product Development (NPD) to improve product and process improvements on existing products and new business development opportunities.
  18. Ensure the proper care, maintenance, calibration and upkeep of all Quality Control lab instrumentation and equipment.
  19. Ensure and maintain a safe lab working environment, including proper chemical hygiene and lab housekeeping.
  20. Manage, track, and requisition all operating supplies for the Quality Control lab.
  21. Performing other duties as assigned by the appropriate manager.


Skills, Qualifications, Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science (preferably chemistry or biology) or Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of manufacturing quality operations experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing quality management experience
  • Knowledge of total quality concepts and ISO / QS procedures
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification preferred
  • Effective facilitation and coaching skills
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels
  • Quality trend analysis and corrective action development experience
