Full Job Description
Position Overview:

As our Quality Technician, you will provide quality support for projects including next generation nuclear reactor design; reactor component development and fabrication; and advanced manufacturing technology development.

Location:

The position will be in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office.

Your Day to Day as a Quality Technician:
  • Provide quality control (QC) support and oversight for engineering, development, and testing activities.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using various instruments and techniques.
  • Develop inspection and test plans including determination of inspection methods and calibration procedures.
  • Assist with the development of inspection procedures.
  • Assist with the development of manufacturing plans.
  • Support current inspection equipment and systems.
  • Participate in review and disposition of nonconformances.
  • Prepare product data packages.
  • Assist in identifying quality requirements for procurements and reviewing supplier proposals.
  • Review supplier inspection plans and procedures.
  • Perform source inspection and witness surveillance at suppliers.
  • Review supplier quality documentation for conformance to procurement requirements.
  • Support additional assignments by management as needed.


Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of an associate degree in a technical field plus four (4) years of experience OR a high school diploma / equivalent plus eight (8) years of relevant experience is required.
  • A minimum of four (4) year's quality experience in a nuclear, defense or aerospace industry is required.
  • Must have experience performing dimensional inspections with a demonstrated understanding of dimensional inspection techniques.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex drawings and understand ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Must have knowledge of inspection tools, systems, techniques and NDE methods.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in generating technical reports and presentations using MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to perform in a collaborative team environment with minimal procedural guidance and supervision.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience with inspection for product development and/or prototyping is desired.
  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, NQA-1, ASME NCA-4000 and NASA is desired.
  • Experience with product development and prototyping is desired.
  • Experience with laser metrology (HandySCAN, MetraSCAN, etc.) is desired.
  • Experience with CMM programming and/or manual CMM inspection is desired.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $103,000.00

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $65,000.00 and $103,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
