Full Job Description
Position Summary: The Quality Control (QC) Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all construction work meets the specified quality standards as outlined in the Construction Quality Management Plan (CQMP). The role requires thorough knowledge and understanding of the CQMP, including access to all relevant quality documents, records, and issued-for-construction (IFC) drawings. The QC Inspector will work closely with the Construction Quality Control Manager and other quality personnel to ensure that all inspection and testing activities are performed accurately and documented properly.

Reports to: Construction Quality Control Manager

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and document the quality of construction work performed by the joint venture, suppliers, and/or subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project requirements, IFC drawings, and specifications.
  • Fulfill all QC assigned activities in the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), including performing and documenting inspections and tests.
  • Verify that equipment used in the construction process is fit for purpose, properly calibrated, and maintained as required.
  • Identify and report non-compliant construction work or supplied products upon discovery, and monitor the disposition of non-conformances.
  • Control the further processing, delivery, installation, or use of non-compliant construction work or supplied products until the issues are corrected, controlled, or removed.
  • Coordinate and notify all quality activities as indicated in the ITPs with Quality Managers, quality coordinators, inspectors, and other relevant parties, including Contracting Authorities, Utilities, and Governmental Authorities.
  • Ensure that inspections and tests are performed according to approved ITPs, and that all quality records and documents are complete, accurate, and meet applicable requirements.
  • Review test packages and relevant documentation prior to conducting inspections and testing.
  • Prepare and maintain quality records related to their assigned portion of work.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Construction Quality Control Manager.


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related industry.
  • 2-5 years of experience in heavy civil projects.
  • Certification and training in quality control inspection and testing, particularly in transit construction projects, are required.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Preferably, experience or understanding of transit or construction systems in Ontario.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, document control systems, and other relevant software.
  • Experience leading standards audits and utilizing various quality control techniques.

    Salary banding: $90,000 - $105,000 per annum
