The Quality Assurance Manager oversees and continuously improves the quality management system across all stages of production, from raw material receipt through finished product release at the Beaumont and Houston plants, ensuring products consistently meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
This role owns the customer and supplier complaint system, partnering with customers, suppliers, and internal functions to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies.
The Quality Assurance Manager leads the quality assurance teams at the Beaumont and Houston plants, ensuring timely and accurate generation of in-process and finished product data, and serves as the primary quality liaison for customer audits and supplier qualification activities.
The Quality Assurance Manager fosters a culture of continuous improvement across all processes and service functions, driving cross-functional improvement projects throughout the organization. This position requires regular daily travel between the Houston and Beaumont facilities.
What You Will Do- Manage the ISO 9001 Quality Management System for the Beaumont and Houston plants, continually identifying and implementing improvement opportunities
- Manage the customer and supplier complaint systems, working with customers, suppliers, and internal functions to address and drive resolution to all complaints/issues using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5-Why, and fishbone analysis
- Manage the corrective and preventive action (CAPA) system and ensure timely closure of actions
- Manage the Beaumont and Houston plant laboratories to generate accurate and timely in-process and finished product data
- Manage the laboratory equipment calibration programs across both plant sites
- Manage and report Beaumont and Houston plant quality data and KPIs - including scrap rates, first-pass, yield, and customer complaints - to identify trends and drive improvements in collaboration with plant functions
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including customer audits and third-party ISO certification audits
- Develop and maintain control plans, inspection procedures, and work instructions
- Collaborate with process technology and R&D to support new product introductions, process changes, and scale-up activities
- Supervise, mentor, and develop quality technicians and laboratory staff across both plant locations
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations related to quality operations.
What You BringRequired- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related technical field
- 10 or more years of experience in R&D, Quality Assurance, polymer, rubber, or specialty chemical manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to manage customer and supplier interactions, including customer specification interpretation and supplier quality programs
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage an annual operating budget
- Experience with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management systems
- Proficiency with statistical process control (SPC), measurement system analysis (MSA), FMEA, and design of experiments (DOE)
- Proficiency with quality data systems, SAP, and standard laboratory testing, including familiarity with ASTM or customer-specific test methods
- Strong people-leadership skills, including coaching, training, and performance management of technical staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
