QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER - Florida

Department: Quality Assurance

Reports To: General Manager

Description:

A Quality Assurance Manager will ensure that products are designed, built, and produced in accordance with customer specifications and quality requirements and ASME code.

This role requires strong organizational skills, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality Systems & Assurance

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS), including internal audits, corrective actions, nonconformance management, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Establish and maintain quality policies, procedures, inspection plans, and quality controls necessary to ensure compliance with customer requirements, applicable codes, and company standards.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Project Management teams to ensure quality requirements are incorporated throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead or participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with customer specifications, applicable codes and standards, manufacturability requirements, and quality objectives.
  • Review design, manufacturing, testing, and quality documentation for technical adequacy and compliance.
  • Develop and manage supplier quality programs, including supplier qualification, audits, corrective actions, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead root cause investigations for quality issues and facilitate implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure quality requirements are appropriately defined and incorporated into supplier purchase orders, manufacturing processes, subcontracted services, and customer contracts.


Quality Control & Compliance

  • Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities to verify compliance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordinate and support inspection and testing activities, including dimensional inspections, pressure testing, welding inspections, and non-destructive examination activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, National Board, customer, and regulatory requirements applicable to products and manufacturing operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support related to inspection results, quality concerns, testing activities, and code interpretation.
  • Review fabrication drawings, manufacturing documentation, and quality records for compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Develop and monitor quality performance indicators including First Pass Yield, nonconformance trends, supplier quality performance, customer complaints, and other key quality metrics.


Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the QA/QC organization by establishing priorities, managing direct reports, and developing team capabilities through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, quality ownership, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Drive improvements to processes and systems that increase product quality, improve manufacturing predictability, reduce quality escapes, and enhance operational performance.
  • Partner with functional leaders across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Project Management to resolve issues and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Support customer audits, third-party audits, regulatory inspections, and quality-related customer interactions.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the company's social and environmental mission by promoting sustainable practices, fostering an inclusive work environment, and consistently prioritizing health and safety in all aspects of work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of mechanical design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and electrical control systems used in industrial equipment manufacturing.
  • Thorough understanding of good quality management practices as detailed in ISO 9001 or other standards that detail quality management systems
  • Demonstrated experience with ASME Section VIII Division 1 fabrication and ASMA Section IX welding requirements.
  • Experience supporting National Board of Boilers and Pressure Vessels inspections and pressure vessel code compliance.
  • Experience with welding processes, weld inspection, and applicable welding codes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Ability to prioritize and work with limited supervision and ability to self-start projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CWI certification
  • AMPP/NACE certification
  • Experience with water treatment equipment including vessels, piping, etc.
  • Six Sigma qualifications


Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of leadership experience


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing/shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Frequent walking throughout the facility to support operations and maintenance teams
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and reach as needed to support workstation troubleshooting and coordination tasks
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers
  • Visual acuity to read documents, screens, and equipment labels
  • Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
