Quality Engineer 3 - Metrology Analyst Position Overview

Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards and meet customer requirements for product measurement validation. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Perform measurements and data post processing using portable metrology systems such as laser tracker and Romer arm.
  • Precision locate machines and details in extreme environments.
  • Visualize 3D space and integrate complex geometries on to both large and small fabrications.
  • Use and learn a variety of software to observe, analyze, evaluate, and communicate pertinent information.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Adapt to an extremely dynamic work environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Find solutions to problems through diverse thinking while utilizing a varied experience.
  • Maintain the highest level of safety on the job site and bring new ideas of how to continue to work safely and effectively in new locations and changing environments.
  • Other related duties as required due to changes in business processes or customer requirements.

Experience and Other Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder') per ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) guidelines.
  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or a foreign person per ITAR.
  • Bachelor's degree in a science related field with 5+ years of related experience preferred,
    • or Associates degree in a science field with 7+ years of related experience,
    • or 11+ years of related experience.
  • Experience analyzing CMS data and generating CMS data reports and measurement inspection plans.
  • Experience with metrology software such as Spatial Analyzer, PolyWorks, or equivalent platforms preferred.
  • Experience using inspection equipment, such as, micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, height gauges, ARM's and laser trackers, plus experience with Leica laser trackers.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T / dimensional analysis.
  • Experience with CAD systems such as CATIA or NX is a plus.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing process of large structures from concept to completion.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience and a working understanding of D6-51991 and ASME Y14.5, is a plus.
  • Schedule: First shift, Mon. - Thurs., 4x10 hour day.
  • This position is 100% onsite.
