Job Description
Hitachi Rail STS Canada is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated  QA Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of engineering tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in downtown Mississauga, Canada.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for supporting assigned Quality Assurance activities and Quality Control activities at the installation and Commissioning site, reporting directly to the on-site QA/QC Manager.
  • Witnessing and verifying inspections/testing and/or conducting inspections of various systems, subsystems including Post Installation Checkout, Site Acceptance Test, site Integration test, as assigned by the QA/QC Manager
  • Interfacing with the program level team, as well as subcontractors and suppliers, to ensure the proper execution of the project in accordance with applicable planning documents and contractual requirements
  • Managing, tracking, and resolving site NCRs and deficiencies, ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions and successful closure in accordance with quality standards and project requirements.
  • Supporting the onsite quality daily and long-term interfaces with the primary subcontractors

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5 years' experience in a Project environment including field installation and delivery.
  • 5 years' experience working in Quality Management within the public transit industry; including all federal, state, local and company-specific regulations related to product quality.
  • ISO 9001:2015 implementation experience, Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification, or equivalent competency
  • Experience auditing systems, processes, products both internally and externally
  • Experience in managing, tracking, and resolving site NCRs and deficiencies, ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions and successful closure in accordance with quality standards and project requirements.
  • Good communication skills in relaying technical information via verbal or written communication
  • Have demonstrated experience with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality documentation and records management.
  • Experience in reading technical documents, drawings and / or schematics
  • Knowledge of quality methods (such as PDCA, FTA, NCR)
  • Team player

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Engineering or Quality Management or equivalent technical experience

Other requirements:

  • Full-time on-site presence is required.

Salary Range - CAD $85,592 - CAD $128,388

The current applicable Base Salary Pay Range for this role is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills relevant to the role, internal equity, alignment with market data, or other law.
