Summary:

This role will support the execution of the customer's annual lab equipment capex plans while negotiating lab equipment purchases and service contracts. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will identify synergies and cost savings between the customer's Laboratory Asset Management Program and Vertex's equipment purchasing plan. These efforts will maximize value across both areas of spend.

What you will do:

Equipment Sourcing Responsibilities
  • Guide the customer's equipment requestors through the equipment purchasing process
  • Negotiate equipment quotes with suppliers within defined SLAs, liaise with suppliers and equipment requestors
  • Upload revised quotes into ticketing workflow
  • Develop long-term strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
  • Implement supplier performance metrics (KPIs, dashboards and scorecards)
  • Investigate alternative sources of equipment supply and used equipment options
  • Review and verify pricing matches the customer's pricing agreements. Ensure they are applied to quotes
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and value creation
  • Track savings achieved, likely in a customer tool or spreadsheet
  • Steer scientists to the customer's preferred sources or standardized equipment options
  • Support supplier setup requests and support Strategic Sourcing supplier reduction initiatives and goals by funneling tail spend requests to Renovo or other preferred channels for pass through purchasing
  • Communicate delivery logistics with on-site personnel for Renovo pass through purchases


Lab Equipment Repair & Maintenance Sourcing Responsibilities
  • Lead the sourcing team and associated Renovo KPIs
  • Oversee the purchase order (PO) process and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all external service providers to ensure operational consistency and compliance
  • Train and mentor the team to use good sourcing practices for sourcing of service contracts
  • Review annual OEM/ISO service contract and T&M spend, develop negotiation plans and negotiates with OEM/ISOs to establish high level SLAs, pricing discount rates for service contracts, repairs and parts
  • Identify and pursue opportunities and synergies between capex and service contracts to increase overall value of the Laboratory Asset Management Program
  • Surge support during budgeting and service contract purchasing execution periods
  • Collect data and leading supplier service performance score carding, and vendor business reviews for equipment service only
  • Drive service excellence by participating in Renovo QBRs and conducting regular quarterly or annual business reviews for suppliers


Qualifications:

  • Skilled in improving data accuracy, driving compliance, and supporting informed decision-making across cross-functional teams.

Safety Requirements:

  • On-time completion of all safety trainings
  • Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot & cold ranges of temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish colors
  • Must be able be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds routinely


Travel Requirements:

Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, including quarterly customer visits and international travel as required by specific projects.

Working Conditions:

This role is 100% on-site. Presence in the office is required to effectively support daily operations, stakeholder management, and team collaboration.
