The role focuses on pulmonary function testing (PFT) and supporting outpatient pulmonary care, including diagnostic testing, patient education, and selected clinical support activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform pulmonary function testing, including spirometry, lung volumes, and diffusion studies
- Conduct ambulatory/exertional testing when indicated
- Ensure accurate patient preparation, coaching, and test quality
- Provide inhaler education and technique training
- Support outpatient pulmonary "sick visits" for acute respiratory concerns
- Assist with biologic therapy workflows, including prior authorizations
- Maintain equipment quality control and lab standards
- Document results and clinical findings in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure coordinated care
