Full Job Description
The Publication Manager (Sr. Specialist) serves as the central operational leader for publication activities, driving the strategy and execution of global publication plans within assigned therapeutic areas. Under the guidance of leadership, this role leads cross-functional Publication Teams, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders-including medical communication agencies, MRL, and Human Health-and ensures full compliance with global publication standards and company policies. Responsible for managing data dissemination across scientific journals and congresses, the position tracks deliverables via Datavision, assists with budget management, and aids in developing Scientific Communication Platforms and Lexicons.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional Publication Teams in developing and executing comprehensive global publication plans and tactics for assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Facilitate Publication Team meetings, preparing background materials, agendas, meeting notes, and aligning diverse stakeholders on project deliverables.
  • Track all publication activities using the Datavision database, maintaining accurate records and generating status reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure strict adherence to publication compliance standards, including GPP, ICMJE guidelines, CONSORT standards, and internal corporate publication policies.
  • Oversee third-party vendor operations, managing medical communication agencies, freelance writers, and supporting publication budget administration.
  • Support congress planning and scientific data dissemination, including managing presentation trackers, document trafficking, author travel requests, and QR code workflows.
  • Manage administrative and digital assets, including SharePoint/EngageZone repositories, MRL Slide Repositories, reference bibliographies, and protocol document delivery to journals.
  • Provide publication process and compliance training to internal teams, while contributing to the creation of Scientific Communication Platforms and Lexicons.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Master's Degree (MS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) with 1-2+ years of relevant experience in a scientific discipline, publication management, or related area (Advanced degree preferred).

Experience

  • Solid background in pharmaceutical, biotech, or academic scientific research with a track record in publication management.
  • Deep knowledge of the clinical development process, clinical study data, and medical communication standards (GPP, ICMJE, CONSORT).
  • Hands-on proficiency with the Datavision publications database.
  • Demonstrated capability in leading cross-functional teams, facilitating multi-disciplinary alignment, and managing medical writing agencies.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex medical and scientific information for diverse audiences.
