Public Institutions, Congressional Liaison - JLL

What this job involves - We are currently seeking a Public Institutions, Congressional Liaison to join our Public Institutions (PI) group. This position will support the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Portfolio Management team, assisting the DAF Secretary for Energy, Installations and the Environment on Congressional coordination matters. This role is critical to the DAF Secretary in their efforts to coordinate and facilitate feedback directly to Congress on key policy issues impacting the DAF, to include but not limited to Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI), Strategic Basing, Real Estate, Enhanced Use Leasing (EUL), Environmental Compliance and National Environmental Policy Act Analyses, Operational and Installation Energy, Occupational Health and Safety, Infrastructure and Community Partnerships.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Co-located at the Pentagon working directly with the AF Staff
  • Coordinate responses to Congressional requests for information, correspondence and reports
  • Coordinate communications among the various organizations and stakeholders within the DAF
  • Serve as the Action Officer for inquiries from various agencies and sources
  • QA/QC and organize high visibility products from various stakeholders
  • Participate in working- and senior-level meetings regarding Congressional matters
  • Assist with strategic communications and meeting management/facilitation;
  • Handle a significant workload in a fast-paced environment through effective assignment prioritization and time management
  • Manage task management system for Congressionally related tasks
  • Monitor and brief Secretary on progress of strategic initiatives, including those affecting DAF real estate matters
  • Advise the DAF Secretariat's Office on all aspects of DAF MHPI projects, including real estate finance, construction oversight, property management, AF policy, and impacts of new legislation


Requirements Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate would have a communications background with military experience, Hill experience and knowledge of DAF Secretariat for Energy, Installations and Environment or equivalent portfolio
  • 5+ years work experience; strong financial/analytical/legal skills
  • Knowledge of Congressional processes and cycle
  • Knowledge of President's Budget process
  • Knowledge of the Air Staff organization and hierarchy
  • Ability to show initiative in taking action and responding appropriately
  • Excellent business/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, ability to organize disparate stakeholders
  • Advanced knowledge of the task management systems and Microsoft Office software suite, particularly Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in public affairs, public policy, business, finance, real estate, or related field


Location: Washington DC (Hybrid; working 3 to 5 days in-office)

A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) is required for AF credentialing.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

115,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
