Position Overview

Lead the company's state affairs, lobbying coordination, public affairs, and community engagement strategies supporting advanced nuclear reactor deployment across the United States. Manage relationships with state lobbying firms while building trusted partnerships with policymakers, regulators, universities, communities, industry, and economic development organizations.

Responsibilities

Federal Government Affairs
  • Support the company's federal government affairs strategy in coordination with external lobbying firms.
  • Assist with congressional engagement, including appropriations requests, legislative priorities, and federal funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate meetings and briefing materials for executive engagement with Members of Congress and federal agencies.
  • Track federal legislation, appropriations, and policy developments affecting advanced nuclear energy.
  • Support engagement with the Department of Energy, Department of State, Department of Defense, and other federal agencies.

State Affairs
  • Lead state and local government affairs activities supporting reactor deployment and business development.
  • Manage relationships with state lobbying firms and coordinate legislative priorities.
  • Develop relationships with governors' offices, state legislatures, energy offices, economic development agencies, and local governments.
  • Monitor state legislation, regulatory activity, and incentive programs.
  • Support applications for state grants, incentives, workforce initiatives, and public-private partnerships.
  • Represent the company at state government and industry events.

Community Engagement
  • Develop engagement strategies for deployment communities.
  • Lead outreach with local governments, universities, tribal governments, economic development organizations, labor groups, and community leaders.
  • Organize public meetings and educational events.
  • Coordinate responses to stakeholder questions and support community benefit initiatives.

Strategic Partnerships
  • Develop and execute community engagement plans for prospective reactor deployment sites.
  • Partner with commercial teams and customers to support stakeholder engagement throughout the project development process.
  • Build relationships with local governments, universities, tribal governments, workforce organizations, chambers of commerce, labor organizations, and community leaders.
  • Coordinate public meetings, educational events, and stakeholder outreach activities.
  • Support community benefit initiatives and maintain proactive communication with local stakeholders.

Public Policy & Advocacy
  • Conduct research on federal and state energy policy, advanced nuclear regulation, and emerging legislative initiatives.
  • Draft policy memoranda, briefing materials, executive talking points, opinion articles, and white papers.
  • Track legislative developments and prepare regular updates for executive leadership.
  • Support cross-functional coordination on government affairs initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
