  • 10 years of experience in public affairs, public policy, communications, or a related field, with a focus on technology or AI.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working directly at the intersection of advanced technology (e.g., AI, machine learning) and public policy.
  • Experience in a non-traditional policy environment (e.g., an incubator, R&D lab, or non-profit working on tech policy).
  • Demonstrated experience in a highly separate role, managing complex programs and influencing executive stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in one or more of Jigsaw's core domains (e.g., governance, health, or economic security).
  • Proven ability to translate between government and industry counterparts to facilitate understanding and collaboration.
  • Advanced judgment and discretion when working with highly sensitive and confidential information.

As a Public Affairs Manager at Jigsaw, you will be the key liaison between Jigsaw's work and policymakers, thought leaders, and relevant associations within the US, e.g., the National Governors Association, US Council of Mayors, among others. You will own outcomes for multiple projects and programs of considerable scope and impact. Your deep understanding of issues of concern to local and state governments and important DC-based membership organizations like those named above will be critical to developing solutions, and ensuring that Jigsaw's portfolio differentiates Google as a responsible actor to these decision-makers.

This role is for an experienced government relations specialist who can operate with a high degree of independence, navigate complex political and relational landscapes, and drive alignment across cross-functional partners both inside and outside of Google. The successful applicant will have previous experience working with or in organizations similar to those listed above.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $176000 - $255000 (USD) 20% bonus target equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Own the development and execution of Public Affairs strategies for Jigsaw's portfolio, at the intersection of AI and governance, health, and economic insecurity.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for policymakers, government officials, or key opinion formers (KOFs) for specified areas of our work. Develop or tap into existing networks relevant to Jigsaw's work to drive policymaker engagement.
  • Drive cross-organizational alignment with Google's Global Affairs, Legal, and Product teams to ensure Jigsaw's innovations and policy positions are integrated into Google-wide advocacy efforts.
  • Analyze and anticipate policy and PR sensitivities to help the team formulate strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Create and deliver persuasive, compelling narratives tailored for relevant government and policy audiences.
