Job DutiesThe Psychologist II conducts comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations to support diagnosis, treatment planning, risk assessment, and court-related needs. Responsibilities include reviewing patient records, conducting clinical interviews, selecting and administering appropriate psychological and neuropsychological tests, interpreting assessment results, and communicating findings and recommendations through written reports and oral presentations. Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy and psychoeducation; selects appropriate treatment modalities based on patient needs; and provides crisis intervention and psychological services to promote patient safety, recovery, and optimal psychological functioning.
Provides clinical consultation and behavioral management recommendations to treatment teams and hospital staff, including development and evaluation of behavioral guidelines, milieu planning, staff education, and individualized behavioral interventions. Maintains timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with hospital requirements and applicable standards. Actively participates in multidisciplinary treatment teams by providing psychological expertise, contributing to diagnosis and treatment planning, developing behavioral management plans, assisting with team leadership, supporting discharge planning, providing clinical recommendations to colleagues, and providing cross-coverage as needed.
Minimum QualificationsDoctoral degree in psychology from an appropriately accredited program and a current, unrestricted license as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia (to be obtained within one year of hire).
Requires knowledge and demonstrated ability in psychological assessment, diagnosis, psychological testing, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, behavioral management, and multidisciplinary treatment planning.
Must be able to independently provide psychological services, conduct and interpret psychological assessments, develop treatment recommendations, provide clinical consultation, and prepare professional clinical reports.
Additional ConsiderationsExperience providing psychological services in an inpatient psychiatric, forensic, behavioral health, or other high-acuity clinical setting is highly desired.
