Responsibilities

Job Summary The Psychiatrist provides direct clinical services for psychiatric patients according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the Medical Director. The Psychiatrist functions independently to perform individual assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions regarding a wide variety of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations. Ensures compliance with all UHS policies, regulatory agencies standards and participates in all regulatory audits.

  • E xcellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • E xcellent c omputer proficiency (MS Of fice - Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Florida Board certified MD specializing in Psychiatry
  • Must have 2 - 3 years' patient treatment experience with children, adolescents and adults.
  • Florida License as a Psychiatrist as issued by the Florida Department of Health.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills in order to combine assessments, treatment planning and intervention into a meaningful document . Must be able to communicate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, children, adolescents, adults and residents' families in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must have knowledge of individual, group and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within the family system.
  • Must have good clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the context of the overall treatment plan.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the client's needs, knowledge of growth and development stages and possess an understanding of the range of treatment needed by each age group throughout the life span.
  • Must have leadership abilities.
  • Must be flexible.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in General Psychiatry Active Florida license or ability to obtain licensure in Florida within 30 days of relocating.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other fed eral, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 5 0 lbs.
  • Position requires good mental attitude .
  • Position demands long hours of sitting with some bending and lifting of supplies, paper, medical records, etc.
  • Some physical confrontation and/or restraint may be necessary when dealing with residents.
