Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical school with specialty training in psychiatry.
• Board certified in Psychiatry or board eligible within seven years of completing residency.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the relevant state.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience.
• Must provide and maintain a copy of professional license at the facility.
• Must have current DPS and DEA Certificate of Registration.
• Proficient with relevant computer software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise clinical activities and medical personnel during shifts.
• Evaluate patients referred for mental illness assessments.
• Administer psychiatric treatment to patients in need.
• Make referrals for counseling or inpatient care when necessary.
• Review and adjust maintenance medications as per clinical judgment and policy.
• Provide emergency psychiatric care as required.
• Deliver in-service education for medical and correctional staff when requested.
• Document all provided services in the patient's medical record.
• Participate in quality of care reviews.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
