Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Sagent Behavioral Health, you will focus on diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental illnesses and emotional disorders. You will evaluate patients' mental and physical well-being, create personalized treatment plans, and prescribe medication as needed. This role plays a crucial part in supporting patients' needs and promoting improved mental health outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and treat various mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance abuse disorders.
  • Conduct complete history and physical assessments and follow up appointments.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, incorporating therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, monitoring their effectiveness and potential side effects.
  • Educate patients on medication management, including the importance of consistency, side effect management, and potential long-term impacts.
  • Offer immediate support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises, including suicidal ideation, violent tendencies, or severe distress.
  • Participate in case reviews, multidisciplinary team meetings, and clinical supervision.
  • Ensure a patient-centered approach by fostering a supportive and empathetic therapeutic environment.


Requirements:
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Psychiatric Nursing from an accredited college or university; active and unrestricted State of Iowa License to practice medicine.
    • Must have a mental health certification (PMHNP) recognized by the board of nursing.
    • Minimum 1-2+ years' experience practicing as an APRN is required.
  • Strong diagnostic and assessment skills, with In-depth knowledge of the DSM-5 and the ability to evaluate complex psychiatric conditions and provide accurate diagnoses.
  • Knowledge of both pharmacological treatments and psychotherapeutic techniques.
  • Understanding of medication management protocols, including how to monitor for effectiveness, adjust dosages, and manage side effects or adverse reactions.
  • Strong working proficiency with Microsoft Suite and using electronic health records (EHR) systems.


Compensation:

This is an exempt position. Total earnings for this position will range from ($130,000-176,000) annually.

*Actual compensation may be determined by various factors such as licensure, experience, skillset, internal equity, schedule and/or location. Estimates are factored on a 1.0 FTE.
