Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Asbury Park, NJ (Hybrid)
Shift:
Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

What You'll Do:

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care in a hybrid setting, delivering both in-person and telehealth services. Collaborates with psychiatrist and multidisciplinary team, conducts diagnostic evaluations, manages medications, and ensures accurate documentation and regulatory compliance while serving a diverse patient population. This role is integral to delivering safe, evidence-based, person-centered care and supporting the continued growth of ENJ's Whole Person Care model.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care, including diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, case management, medication management, and health/nutritional counseling for a diverse patient population.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications (including controlled substances) in compliance with DEA, PDMP, and clinical guidelines; order and interpret labs and ensure appropriate physiologic monitoring.
  • Manage an assigned patient panel, delivering care via in-person and telehealth modalities while supporting patient access, continuity of care, and program growth.
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrist and team (LCSW, LPN, care coordinators, group homes, guardians, external providers) to coordinate care, support clinical protocols, and participate in case review and QI initiatives.
  • Manage an assigned patient panel, with patient routing based on payer, acuity, and clinical complexity.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and audit-ready documentation in the Electronic Health Record in compliance with HIPAA, Medicaid/Medicare, and all federal, state, and regulatory requirements (e.g., DMHAS, DHS).
  • Adhere to organizational safety, infection control, and emergency response protocols and standards.
  • Support implementation of clinical protocols governing visit cadence, monitoring, documentation, and quality.
  • Support the program's expansion of active patient panel and access targets through efficient, high-quality clinical throughput.
  • Uphold professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality when interacting with clients, families, and staff, and respond promptly to communications to support effective service delivery.

Who You Are:
  • Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited institution.
  • License/Certification: Active, unrestricted New Jersey Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start) and board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the ANCC.
  • Experience: One-year post-licensure experience providing psychiatric assessments and treatment planning to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
    • Experience in a multidisciplinary, value-based, or community behavioral health setting.
    • Experience with and ability to deliver telehealth psychiatric care.
    • Demonstrated competence in outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management.
  • Requirements: Active DEA registration and New Jersey CDS registration (or eligibility to obtain prior to start).
  • Skills: Technologically proficient with EHR systems and quality/outcomes reporting; demonstrates strong clinical judgment and psychiatric expertise.
  • This role requires driving as an essential function. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be subject to post-offer verification of driving eligibility consistent with company insurance requirements.
