JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: PHYSICIAN/PEDIATRICIAN

REPORTS TO: MEDICAL DIRECTOR/CEO

STATUS: EXEMPT

QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  1. A minimum of two (2) years experience in public health;
  2. Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of modem medicine related to public health services and general knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to public health;
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills;
  4. Computer skills and knowledge, including word processing, medical database operations and spreadsheets;
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of diverse races, ethnicities, ages and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment.


TRAINING, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
  1. Current license to practice medicine in California;
  2. Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Examine patients, take medical history, record results and make a preliminary diagnosis or decision on follow-up procedures;
  2. Administer or order diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, electrocardiograms, vaccinations, and blood work) and interpret test results;
  3. Perform CHDP physical exams;
  4. Exercise professional judgment regarding consultation with the medical director concerning

appropriate treatment.
  1. Develop and implement patient care plans, instruct and counsel patients, and record progress;
  2. Prescribe medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations;
  3. Provide general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living and health maintenance.
  4. Refer patients to specialty consultations and services.
  5. Take charge of "code" situations, initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced cardiac life support as appropriate.
  6. Prescreen cases requiring review by the Medical Director.
  7. Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings and other meetings, as needed.
  8. Participated in QA/QI monthly meeting if needed
