Full Job Description
About the role

Muon seeks a Propulsion Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the delivery of Muon Space's propulsion systems from development through production and flight, managing cost, schedule, and technical performance across programs for U.S. Government and Commercial customers. You'll be the accountable owner for getting propulsion hardware built, qualified, and integrated onto our spacecraft at the aggressive cadence our constellations demand.

This TPM will be a key member of the Mission Engineering team and will collaborate closely with Muon Space's propulsion, avionics, GNC, systems, manufacturing/production, supply chain, and business teams. You are cognizant of how all the pieces-hardware, software/firmware, test, and supply chain-need to come together for successful execution, and you can turn that into well-organized roadmaps, schedules, and budgets that you track throughout the product and program lifecycle.

This role is based in San Jose with a hybrid schedule (3 days per week in-office).
Responsibilities
  • Lead a multidisciplinary propulsion production effort, driving day-to-day execution across design, build, test, qualification, and integration.
  • Own the transition from development to rate/serial production-establishing the schedules, processes, and manufacturing readiness needed to deliver propulsion units repeatedly and on time.
  • Coordinate the hardware/software (and firmware) integration required to deliver a complete, functioning propulsion subsystem - not just a component.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to plan and coordinate the resources, tooling, and long-lead procurements necessary to execute.
  • Manage a complex, critical-path supply chain and subcontractors for propulsion components (thrusters, tanks, valves, feed systems, propellant, etc.).
  • Synchronize a diverse technical team by establishing tools, practices, and processes.
  • Participate in technical discussions, ask probing questions, and work with engineers to pull together scoping, schedules, trades, and solutions to issues.
  • Track and report program metrics on schedule, resource, cost, risk, and technical performance; proactively identify and retire risks with the engineering teams.
  • Serve as the face of the company to customers, subcontractors, and suppliers, and support business development (proposals, RFI responses, customer engagement, organic growth).
Qualifications
  • B.S. in an engineering discipline (M.S. preferred), or equivalent technical experience - a genuine technical background is required.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in engineering and/or technical program management.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering complex hardware programs through production, including the integration of hardware with software/firmware to deliver complete systems on time, to scope, and with high quality.
  • Propulsion experience is strongly preferred (development, qualification, or production).
  • Experience managing programs with multiple subcontractors and a complex critical-path supply chain.
  • Ability to instantiate and manage integrated master schedules and budgets.
  • Comfort working on complex multidisciplinary projects in a fast-paced, aggressive-timeline environment.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
  • Nice to have: systems engineering and inter-discipline technical trade study experience
Salary

The salary range for this role is $175,000 - $208,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
