About the RoleThe Propulsion Engineer III will play a critical role in the design, development, and testing of advanced propulsion systems for aerospace applications. This position requires a deep understanding of propulsion engineering principles, including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading complex projects, conducting detailed analyses, and ensuring the reliability and performance of propulsion systems. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers, to deliver innovative solutions that meet stringent performance and safety requirements. The Propulsion Engineer III will also be expected to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, contribute to the development of technical standards, and mentor junior engineers. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively are essential for this role.
In this role, you will provide solutions to wide-ranging technical problems that are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organizational objectives. Under general direction, you will independently determine and develop approaches to solutions while serving as the owner of discrete technical packages as a Responsible Engineer (RE). You will work across all technical disciplines, providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers to foster their professional growth. Frequent communication outside of Sierra Space regarding routine business will be an essential part of the role. Your responsibilities will include designing and analyzing propulsion systems and components, conducting performance testing and validation of propulsion systems, and developing and implementing technical standards and best practices. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will ensure project success by preparing technical reports and documentation and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
