Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Proposal Engineering Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the growth of Manufacturing and Distribution (M&D) operations by bridging technical engineering standards with bid competitiveness. This position is responsible for gathering and synthesizing complex engineering data including cycle times, material costs, labor requirements, and facility capacity to create accurate, data-driven estimates for new business bids, internal project proposals, and outsourced work opportunities. The role serves as the technical authority on the cost-to-serve for various manufacturing lines, ensuring bids are both profitable and operationally viable.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives):
  • Partner with Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance to translate customer requirements and Statements of Work (SOWs) into detailed engineering estimates
  • Maintain and update engineering standards for distribution and manufacturing processes; ensure standards reflect current operational realities to feed into accurate cost modeling
  • Collaborate with the Forecasting team to evaluate how new bid volumes impact existing facility capacity; leverage capacity analysis tools and AI-driven predictive modeling to determine if new business can be absorbed or requires CapEx investment
  • Develop robust business cases for new project initiatives, clearly outlining ROI, labor savings, and material cost avoidance to support company cost-efficiency OKRs
  • Serve as the technical point of contact during the RFP/RFQ process, working closely with Industrial Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams to validate that bid assumptions are feasible

Skills, Experience and Requirements

  • Critical experience in developing accurate cost models, capacity analysis, and bid estimates for manufacturing and distribution projects
  • AI Literacy and advanced application of data-driven decision-making tools, including Microsoft Excel and data visualization platforms such as Tableau or PowerBI
  • Strong understanding and practical application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies focused on operational efficiency and cost reduction
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical operations and commercial bid requirements through cross-functional collaboration
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical data and project ROI clearly to senior leadership
  • Strong task management and problem-solving abilities to handle RFP/RFQ processes and manage competing project priorities


Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing operations, or production planning
  • Required Technical Skills: Must have experience with:
    • Cost modeling and capacity analysis
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel (data modeling, pivot tables, macros)
    • Data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
    • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies

Compensation: $85,000.00/Year - $103,400.00/Year
