Full Job Description
What will you do?

We are seeking a technical Application Engineer with proposal expertise to provide engineering support to our sales and design teams, focusing on medium voltage switchgear, power distribution, and protection systems. You will analyze customer requirements, prepare technical and commercial proposals, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Prepare complete technical and commercial proposal packages for Medium Voltage Switchgear solutions, including:
    • Medium-voltage switchgear
    • Protection and control solutions
  • Interpret customer RFQs, specifications, drawings, and tender requirements.
  • Coordinate costing, pricing, and risk assessments with Engineering, Sales, Project Management, and Procurement.
  • Develop bill of materials (BOMs), system configurations, and application designs aligned with Siemens portfolio standards.
  • Ensure proposals comply with CSA, IEEE, UL, and applicable utility/industrial standards.
  • Work within a team as well as independently to prepare bids for Medium Voltage Systems, related projects & Solutions including cost estimation using the application configurators (NXTOOLS, COMPAS etc.).
  • Application Engineering for Medium Voltage Air Insulated Switchgear and Gas insulated Switchgear.
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams, Business Developers & Sales, Source factories, Vendors, Procurement, Logistics, Commercial, Financial, Legal, SMEs and Customers, etc.
  • Follow best practices and processes, actively participate in pre and post Bid clarifications and negotiations with Customers and Vendors.

What will you need to succeed?
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineer or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar position
  • Ability to understand technical specifications, commercial terms, cost calculation methodology, risks assessment, etc.
  • Make reliable evaluations and execute realistic and organized plans to deliver quality bids on time
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Self motivated and capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment and passion to deliver quality work in a collaborative atmosphere

[Salary is commensurate with experience, and ranges between $ 80,000.00 CAD - $ 90,000.00 CAD, excluding bonus and benefits. In addition to base salary, this role includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus of up to 10% of base salary, based on Company performance metrics.]
