Dematic is seeking a Project Superintendent to supervise the installation of Automated Material Handling Systems. This role offers leadership and mentorship to the Installation team to ensure projects are carried out safely, on time, and meet quality standards. The position is flexible in location, with the ability to travel to customer sites as needed.
Tasks and Qualifications:What You Will Do in This Role:- Actively manage project safety, scope, quality, schedule, budget, risks, and opportunities (SQDCP framework).
- Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to installation teams, subcontractors, and site coordinators.
- Plan, organize, and execute large, complex projects; make timely decisions on complex project issues.
- Ensure safety leadership across all project activities; enforce adherence to OSHA and customer safety standards.
- Maintain high-quality installations: install right the first time, following Dematic Installation Standards.
- Plan and manage installation schedules in collaboration with Project Management.
- Provide cost oversight, including monthly bottom-up EAC forecasts and Earned Value Tracking.
- Manage project resources, provide feedback, and perform regular performance evaluations for team development.
- Review project documents, drawings, and specifications; resolve construction difficulties and coordinate field installations.
- Oversee materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring timely availability to meet project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Assist with equipment trial runs to verify specifications and installation quality.
- Train and guide subcontractors and installation teams in MHE equipment installation.
- Support Change Management initiatives and maintain strong customer/client relationships.
What We are Looking For: - OSHA training or certification preferred.
- Physically able to traverse construction site environments.
- Experience with material handling equipment preferred, but not required.
- Willingness to travel on short notice, up to 80% of the time; opportunities to go home monthly or more.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off-shifts; overtime compensation offered.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Strong written communication skills; able to produce clear, concise, and complete trip reports on time.
- Proficient in personal computer use, including database functions and communications.
- Understanding of PC hardware setup and software configuration.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
- Willingness to travel 80% of the time.
