Job DescriptionThis position is based on the
Ladore Project in Campbell River, British Columbia. Schedule start time is 5:30 p.m., typically 9 hours days.
Must be comfortable working on the nightshift.RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide leadership and establish and maintain effective and harmonious relationships with the on-site staff;
- Be responsible for having a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the contract documents, each subcontract, the contract drawings, specifications, and addenda, and assist the Project Manager in the development of on-site procedures;
- Assist the Project Manager in the development of the Project Schedule, and work with the Project Manager to keep schedules updated and ensure the job meets the various milestones;
- Plan and review the site construction program with the Project Manager, including quality control procedures, safety and environmental procedures, staging plans, equipment, and manpower;
- Coordinate, direct, monitor, and, with the Field Engineer/Coordinator, inspect the activities of subcontractors, suppliers, and own forces;
- Coordinate with, and direct when necessary, the activities of the inspection agencies, and effect remedial actions if required;
- Establish and maintain necessary communications between subcontractors, consultants, and clients;
- Chair weekly safety and coordination meetings with own forces, subcontractors, agencies, and clients;
- Provide daily reports of work done and labour and materials employed to the Project Manager;
- Review and approve all time cards, subcontractors' monthly requests for payment, material vouchers, and invoices;
- Maintain good relations and communications with all involved in the project, including the public.
Requirements- Related work experience of 3-5 years in a construction supervision role, working on heavy civil construction projects;
- Experience in earthworks and concrete structures is a must;
- Must have demonstrated experience in concrete work, forming, and drilling operations;
- Proven skills in management, negotiation, communication, and problem solving;
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work;
- Knowledge of office management systems and administrative procedures;
- Basic math, accounting, and finance skills;
- Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required.
